Letter from the founders
Butter is built out of frustration.
We’re app developers, but more importantly, we’re small-business owners, and consequently have become unfortunately familiar with Xero, Sage, Quickbooks, and a host of other finance apps that are stressful to open, and very complex to use. Finance for small businesses is… awful. We have become used to not knowing what’s actually going on in our finances. How much did we profit this month? How much did we spend? Is there anything I should know about? No idea.
Recently, having just met with a Finance Director at a large UK business, we began exploring how AI could help small businesses, like ours, get the benefits of a Finance Director without hiring one.
